Jian-Fang CUI obtained his B.Sc. degree from Sun Yat-sen University in 2006. In 2011, he received his Ph.D. degree from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), The Chinese Academy of Sciences, under the supervision of Professor Henry N. C. Wong. Subsequently, he did postdoctoral research with Professor Man-Kin Wong at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2012 to 2018. During this period, he also worked as an adjunct Technology Consultant for the POLYU TECHNOLOGY & CONSULTANCY COMPANY LIMITED. From 2018 to 2023, he worked as a Research Assistant Professor at Southern University of Science and Technology. Since 2023, he joined the School of Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. His research interest mainly focuses on the synthesis of functional tetraphenylenes and their application on the development of chiral ligands for asymmetric catalysis, as well as the synthesis and application of chiral gold(III) complexes and fluorescent probes.
