[Invitation] Freshman Odyssey Series – Freshman Exploration Month: September

Dear Freshmen of Shaw College,
The new semester has already entered its second week. From navigating unfamiliar campus paths to now seamlessly integrating into class routines and engaging freely with classmates, each of you is gradually shedding initial shyness and growing more adaptable and confident with every earnest day. At the start of this transformative journey, many of you may be seeking more effective ways to move forward and build momentum for the university life ahead.
In support of this transition, Shaw College is delighted to offer you a special opportunity: we are honored to invite Dr. YU Xiaoming, Advisor to the Vice President (External Affairs and Student Affairs) Office at CUHK(SZ), to lead a thematic sharing session on university life.
Dr. YU will explore key topics such as mindset adjustment, optimization of learning methods, and resource integration, sharing insights on how to maintain inner balance amid a busy academic schedule, enhance self-management skills, and make the most of campus resources to broaden your horizons and support personal growth. We highly encourage your active participation as we embark on this meaningful conversation together.

Speaker: Dr. YU Xiaoming, Advisor to the Vice President (External Affairs and Student Affairs) Office, CUHK(SZ)
About the Speaker:
Dr. YU Xiaoming has extensive experience in student affairs and research in comparative education and comparative student affairs. He completed his undergraduate studies in Shanghai and pursued further studies in the United States and United Kingdom, obtaining both a master's and a doctoral degree. With an educational background spanning China, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as considerable experience working at overseas universities, Dr. Yu possesses a broad international perspective and a wealth of professional experience.
Dr. Yu has held various leadership positions, including Deputy Director of Student Affairs at the University of Virginia, Director of Student Affairs at the University of Macau, and Master of the Cheong Kun Lun College at the University of Macau. In 2018, he joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, where he served as the Director of Office of the Student Affairs and the Director of the Student Health and Counselling Centre.
