As a new voyage begins, together we embark on a journey of learning and growth.

As the warm glow of summer gradually recedes, August has brought the “Freshman Exploration Month”  to a gentle close. We have ushered in the prelude to the golden autumn and a whole new chapter of your university life. Now, we sincerely invite each freshman to join our “Freshmen Pioneers” series active's -“Freshmen Growth Season”, a series of group-building activities led by freshmen pioneers, aiming to help you better integrate into university life, enjoy the fun of growing up, quickly integrate into t college life, make like-minded friends, and grow together. 
 
Shaw College “Freshmen Growth Season” overview:
Event Period:  September 10th to December 31st , 2024
Participation: Participate with your roommates to earn points to exchange for Shaw College souvenirs 
Target Participants: All freshmen of Shaw College

Event Calendar: 
September 10th – October 10th: Group photo challenge
During this period, freshmen pioneers are encouraged to lead their roommates in taking 4 photos at different location, either on campus or off campus (e.g.,  canteen, library, sports center).  The photos should capture memorable moments and showcase dormitory life. Participants who complete this challenge will earn a reward of 2 points!

September 10th – October 10th: Short-video challenge 
During this period, freshmen pioneers are encouraged to lead their roommates in creating a 1-3 minute short video that showcases the style of their dormitory. This can include parodies, short film dubbing, TikTok challenges, and so forth. Participants who complete the challenge will earn a reward of 2 points!

November: High Table Dinner Performance 
Showcase your talents by participating in the Shaw College High Table Dinner performance.  Each selected performer will be rewarded with 4 points after passing the audition.

September-December

• Daily dormitory  decoration

During this period, members of the dormitory are encouraged to get creative and decorate the dormitory, with any theme (you can choose a theme that matches the atmosphere of a specific festival), and each participant will be rewarded with 1 point, up to a maximum of 2 points.  

• Activities hosed by the College 

During this period, we will  announce special activities from time to time, including but not limited to lectures and workshops designed to broaden your horizons and enhance your knowledge. For each event you attend, you will be awarded 1 growth point. Keep an eye for announcements tagged with “Freshman Growth Season”.-

• Dormitory mini sports competition 

During this period, freshmen pioneers are  encouraged to lead their roommates to participate in mini sport competition including but not limited to basketball, football, badminton, volleyball, swimming and rock climbing.You can choose to form a team to compete against other dormitory teams. For each competition, participants will earn 1 point, up to a maximum of 3 points. 

We believe that under the guidance of the freshmen pioneers, your active involvement in each activity will not only earn you points but also provide invaluable experiences for personal growth. We look forward to seeing you and your roommates in every event of the “Freshmen growth season”.
Points will be calculated in the form of online Excel table for you to view in real time. Please pay close attention to the forthcoming notifications. Let's embark on a journey of self-exploration, self-challenge, and self-achievement during the "Freshmen growth season”! We look forward to your active participation and let's start this wonderful growth journey together! 
 
Each freshman pioneer should compile the submissions in a Windows RAR or ZIP format and send them to their respective mentors for challenges such as the 'Group Ghoto Challenge,' 'Short-Video Challenge,' 'Daily Dormitory Decoration,' and 'Dormitory Mini Sports Competition.' 'Academy Special Activities,' such as lectures, will be based on the attendance list checked via the WeChat Mini-Program.

Exchange Period: 6th January 2025- 10th January 2025 (weekday hours)
Location: Shaw College Office E206
Kind reminder: Souvenirs are available on a first‐come, first‐served basis., Freshmen can only choose one souvenir for redemption. If you earn 10 points, you can choose a 5-point or 8-point souvenir. 

Prize redemption is subject to actual stock availability at the College.
