The Sixth Session of “Shaw We Talk: Shaw College English Corner”

On November 20th, Shaw College hosted the seventh session of "Shaw We Talk: Shaw College English Corner" in F302. Professor Michael Geoffrey Salter from the School of Humanities and Social Science delved into the theme "The Challenges of Interpreting Metaphors", providing a thorough insight into the use of metaphors. He clarified the essence of metaphors, illustrating their characteristics and complexities with various examples. During the discussions, students shared common metaphorical phrases such as "kill time" and "traffic jam", highlighting the prevalence of metaphors in everyday language and their deeper symbolism and meanings. This session not only immersed students in the world of metaphors but also enhanced their language comprehension and expressive skills, empowering them to navigate the intricacies of language with newfound fluency.
